Third Generation Victron Based Power System for Tiny Homes and Bachs
The PowerPlant3 is the third generation in MEDA’s PowerPlant cabinet lineup, delivering a refined, professional off grid power solution designed for tiny homes, bachs, and remote dwellings with limited internal space. Built to operate as a fully external system, PowerPlant3 keeps all major power components outside the home while providing reliable everyday energy where it matters.
Using premium Victron Energy components and Dyness lithium batteries, PowerPlant3 is engineered for long service life, high configurability, and dependable performance in tough New Zealand conditions.
PowerPlant3 systems are designed, built, and assembled by MEDA here in New Zealand, not imported as pre built units, and can be customised to suit your specific site and power requirements.
Designed for External Installation
PowerPlant3 is housed in a strong, IP rated, weatherproof steel cabinet designed for permanent outdoor installation. The cabinet is suitable for mounting on a concrete pad and is built to withstand New Zealand’s coastal, alpine, and rural environments.
A pre wired 32 amp output socket is mounted on the cabinet, allowing the system to plug directly into a tiny home or bach. Once solar panels are installed, the system is effectively plug and play.
Third Generation Monitoring and Control
PowerPlant3 now includes local system monitoring via a colour touchscreen mounted on the cabinet door. This provides instant visibility of solar production, battery state of charge, and system performance without opening the cabinet.
The system also supports WiFi monitoring, allowing both local and remote access when an internet connection is available.
- Live solar production and household consumption
- Battery state of charge and performance history
- Inverter load and AC input status
- Generator runtime and charging behaviour
Premium Victron and Dyness Components
PowerPlant3 is built using industry leading components selected for reliability, integration, and long term support.
- Victron Energy inverter, solar control, and monitoring hardware
- Dyness LiFePO₄ lithium batteries for safe, stable, long life energy storage
This modular architecture provides improved thermal management, cleaner system design, and easier servicing compared to all in one inverter platforms.
Flexible Battery and Solar Configurations
PowerPlant3 can be configured to suit a wide range of energy requirements.
Battery Options
- 2 x 5 kWh Dyness lithium batteries (10 kWh total)
- 3 x 5 kWh Dyness lithium batteries (15 kWh total)
Solar Options
- 12 x 470W N Type dual glass solar panels (5.64 kW system)
- 18 x 470W N Type dual glass solar panels (8.46 kW system)
Designed for Off Grid Living, Ready for Grid Tied
PowerPlant3 is purpose built for off grid living and performs exceptionally well where solar and battery storage are the primary energy sources.
Where grid power is available, the system can also be configured as a grid tied or hybrid system, allowing seamless interaction with the grid while retaining battery backup and solar optimisation.
Built In Load Diversion and Future Expansion
The system includes built in load diversion capability, allowing excess solar energy to be used for applications such as hot water heating, spa pools, and other controllable loads. The modular Victron platform also supports future expansion including additional solar, battery capacity, generator integration, and EV charging where applicable.
